The History of Mother's Day

The History of Mother's Day

What is the history of Mother's Day? This holiday has been possibly celebrated since Roman and Greek times. In the Christian Church it was the fourth Sunday after Lent. In 1914 during Woodrow Wilson's presidency, Anna Reeves Jarvis lobbied for a day to celebrate all the mother's who lost their sons in the Civil War.

Today it is a much more light hearted celebration, to recognize the one thing we all share on this earth, and that is our mother. The most important mother, however is this planet we live on, Mother Earth. It is a day to celebrate all mothers, and subsequently all grandmothers. It is a beautiful thing, no matter what has happened to us in our lives, that we honor the person who physically brought us here on this planet

In this regard we are celebrating the good luck that we have to our own lives, and what we bring to this world. Enjoy this day - it is for everyone.
