These pearls were harvested on the docks of Papeete in French Polynesia in the salt water of Tahiti. Grown in the mollusk, Pinctada Margarita Fera, which is a black lipped oyster, these 9mm pearls are naturally colored in the ranges from silver to charcoal black. The nacre is iridescent with tones of greens, blues and burgundy. They are lovingly harvested by locals and highly regulated by government for quality as they are some of the only items produced in this area of the world. We drill every pearl, and I hand knot them on Kevlar cord for durability and safety. I laid out the serendipitous colors according to shape and size. Most Tahitian pearls are 8-9mm in size and these are organic, naturally colored, and are salty to the tongue. I connected them to a solid 14K white gold cable chain, with 2, white gold bead accents on each end. The total length of this stunning necklace with the lobster clasp is 21" long.
