Five, 1 inch round Zuni inlay 'Sunfaces' are inlaid with synthetic opal, natural coral, turquoise and onyx. This piece is handcrafted by Pauline Lonjose, a Zuni Pueblo artist. The Sunface represents the Father figure in the sky, is a vital symbol of the seasons, and promotes the success of the crops. The split down the center of the face represents balance and harmony, and symbolises the moments between sunrise and sunset. This necklace is unique in that the radiant pattern inlay is synthetic opal, which displays a brilliant play of rainbow colors. The inlay is placed in a heavyweight sterling silver hand fabricated setting, and three rays from the sun drop down from the centerpiece. A national treasure handmade by a Native Woman artist, and a cultural heirloom from the Zuni Pueblo culture. 22 inches long.
